Job description

This position supports the California Department of Public Health's (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by protecting the public's health from lead poisoning and ensuring that core business areas are efficient, innovative, transparent, and customer focused.
The Health Program Manager (HPM) II works under general direction of the Health Program Manager III, Assistant Branch Chief of the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Branch (CLPPB), and serves as Chief of the Operations and Support Section (OSS). OSS is responsible for coordinating with other sections in CLPPB and seeing that information on lead exposure gathered by CLPPB is applied to activities (such as: assessment and collection of fees from manufactures and other parties) under mandates of the Health and Safety Code Section 105310 and for overseeing fiscal activities of CLPPB. OSS also houses the Operations Support Unit (OSU) and the Policy and Planning (PPU). As OSS Chief, the incumbent oversees and manages human resources, budget, and procurement functions for CLPPB. In the absence of the Assistant Branch Chief, the OSS Chief will act as the Assistant Branch Chief.

The Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Branch (CLPPB) oversees a statewide program that provides a wide and complex array of primary and secondary prevention services to children with lead poisoning, lead exposure or risk of lead exposure.
