POSITION SUMMARY: This position will serve to create a bridge between the quality and Health Information management departments to improve data abstraction techniques and documentation standards adherence. The incumbent will conduct studies and analyzes Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital data pertaining to medical records, quality, and quality payment programs to help influence improved reimbursement and quality outcomes.Additionally, serves as a clerical resource to assure the quality and completion of medical records is done timely and per Hospital guidelines. The successful incumbent for this position should have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Working knowledge of the principles and methods of research methodology, statistical analysis, and report design
- Working knowledge of the concepts of Health Information management and clinical documentation
- Working knowledge of the Medicare Shared Savings Program as well as working knowledge of quality payment programs
- Working knowledge and proficiency in the use of Windows-based PC system and a range of software packages, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
- Ability to evaluate medical records and other health care data
- Ability to plan, organize, and lead data collection activities
- Ability to interpret guidance from multiple department leaders to meet reporting and data analysis needs of each individual leader.
- Ability to transcribe preferred.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare, Statistics, or Computer Science required.
- Associate degree and combination of education, experience and training may be accepted.
LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Certification of Lean, Six Sigma, TQM, or similar preferred
- Certification of RHIT, CPC, or similar preferred
EXPERIENCE
- Two years of experience in statistical analysis and/or data abstraction pertaining to the healthcare environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities that may be qualifying
