Job Description
Marshall University is seeking s seeking a skilled Business Intelligence and Data Analyst to join our Institutional Research team. This role is pivotal in supporting the university's strategic decision-making processes by providing actionable insights from data. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in data analysis, Business Intelligence tools, and a passion for transforming data into meaningful narratives that aid in institutional planning and policy formulation. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Institutional Research and Planning team, as well as other university departments, leveraging analytical and technical skills to drive data-driven strategies.
Key Responsibilities:

1. Data Analysis and Modeling:
   • Analyze complex institutional data sets to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies.
   • Build predictive and prescriptive models to support university strategic planning and forecasting.
   • Use statistical analysis to evaluate program effectiveness, student outcomes, and other institutional metrics.
2. Reporting and Visualization:
   • Develop dynamic dashboards and reports using tools like Power BI or similar platforms.
   • Present data-driven insights clearly and concisely to diverse audiences, from academic departments to university leadership.
3. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
   • Work closely with various university departments to understand their data needs and provide tailored solutions.
   • Engage with university leadership to ensure alignment of data analysis with strategic goals.
4. Data Management:
   • Ensure data integrity by implementing quality control measures.
   • Collaborate with IT departments to enhance data collection methods and infrastructure.
5. Continuous Learning and Improvement:
   • Stay updated with the latest trends in data science and higher education research.
   • Recommend and implement new methodologies or technologies to enhance the IRP's analytical capabilities.

Required Qualifications
Education

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field. Master's degree with statistical knowledge preferred

Experience

• Minimum of one year of relevant experience in data analysis or business analytics. Experience in higher education is a plus
• Proficiency in data analysis tools such as R, Python, SQL, and Data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI
• Strong statistical analysis skills
• Advanced SQL skills
• Experience working with higher education data
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Complete assigned projects with accuracy adhering to project deadline
• Provides reliable, relevant, and accurate data and information to facilitate planning, budgeting, program evaluation, and development of policy decisions.
