Your future team
This Sr. Director/Director level role will report directly to the Global Head of Product Security. As the Head of Product Security for the United States, you will play a pivotal role in leading and uplifting security across Atlassian's extensive footprint in the region. Your responsibilities include overseeing teams dedicated to driving our engineering teams to enhance their security practices for our customers. This key position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, setting security standards, and implementing robust security measures to safeguard our products and customer data. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of cybersecurity, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record of implementing effective security strategies at a regional level.
What you'll do:
Regional Leadership: Develop and lead the U.S. product security region, aligning with the global Product Security Strategy
Security Oversight: Implement security architecture aligned with industry best practices for U.S. products and establish/enforce security standards, policies, and procedures for U.S. product development.
Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional U.S. teams to integrate security into the product development process and communicate security updates, risks, and strategies.
Team Leadership and Upliftment: Lead teams driving engineering upliftment in security practices and partner with teams on adopting the latest tools and methodologies for secure product development.
Developer Enablement: Enable thousands of Atlassian product and platform developers to enhance the security of their applications and infrastructure, ultimately improving the security of millions of users using Atlassian products.
Take part in periodic on-call duties as part of a rotation to support security incident management activities
Your background:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
At least 6+ years of multifaceted security leadership and management experience in a technology-centric company, including experience leading security teams of 30+ engineers and analysts in a globally distributed organization that services dozens of partners.
Proven experience in a product security leadership role, with management experience, specifically managing managers that are leading teams
Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, threat landscape, and best practices.
Strong knowledge of secure coding practices, encryption, and authentication methods.
Experience with compliance standards such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, FedRAMP, or similar.
Experience presenting balanced risk perspectives and interacting with senior executives.
Strong leadership, people management, and influencing skills.
Experience managing a regional team of 30+ technical professionals and collaborating across a global team.
Preferred (but not required): Delivered industry presentations.
Compensation
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $252,100 - $336,200
Zone B: $226,900 - $302,600
Zone C: $209,300 - $279,000
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
