Location - New York
Salary - Up to $200,000 dependent on experience + commission
• The Head of Sales has the primary role of leading the Americas sales team, overseeing activities of the junior and senior professionals (sales and pre-sales) and monitoring performance.
• The Head of Sales defines and communicates SmartStream's KPIs and targets to sales personnel on a regular basis, analyses patterns in client and market behaviour, and subsequently defines data-driven action strategies to consistently optimize SmartStream's commercial performance.
• The role of Head of Sales is a data-driven role that requires commercial acumen and a deep understanding of the industry, client base, the competitive market, and an ability to analyse sales team performance.
• The Head of Sales role is an integral part of the management team in that it also involves the management of external partners and collaboration with numerous internal departments.
Job Responsibilities
• Oversee developing quarterly and annual sales targets for the team, examining growth opportunities, enabling sales improvements, product mix development, and taking responsibility for the team's performance against targets.
• Interaction with Account Management team.
• Manage the team activities regarding trading priorities inclusive of demonstrations, promotions, and campaign activities for the purpose of maximizing sales opportunities.
• Establish and oversee the adoption of team vision and values, which forms part of the work culture.
• Act as a mentor to key positions within the sales team, assisting in the execution of duties upon request, honing their professional skills.
• Implement sales strategies that further the team's agenda and drive enhanced revenue generation for the business.
• Create and implement sales action plans that incorporate key actions that work to set KPIs for SmartStream.
• Utilise analytics tools and work with the finance team in undertaking detailed analyses of Sales performance for the purpose of reporting sales strategy successes, weaknesses, and opportunities to senior management.
• Identify areas of improvement in sales strategies with a view to establishing actionable insights for the improvement of Sales and business profits.
• Collaborate with Product Management Group in creating product intelligence, for example, product adjacencies, affinities, conducting trend analysis, and ensuring that these are aligned to support and drive sales and conversion.
• Build strong relationships with the external partners and clients and regularly interacts with them by attending conferences, seminars, hosting events, and playing an active role in industry organisations.
• Willing to travel extensively

Desirable Skills
Qualifications
• Bachelors Degree or equivalent in a relevant field, Masters Degree preferred.
Experience
• Proven and successful ability to lead a sales team towards growth in enhanced sales volumes and enhanced revenue generation, while displaying exceptional leadership skills and confidence,
• At least 10 years extensive experience of Sales and sales leadership within a fast-paced and dynamic business environment in the Financial Technology industry.
• Direct experience of complex financial software solution sales into Tier 1 and Tier 2 organisations. Experience in managed services and BPO sales an advantage.
• Solid understanding of middle and back-office/ post trade processes in capital markets.
• Proven history of "big ticket" sales.
• Highly credible - able to relate to C-Suite executives as a peer (COO, CIO, CTO).
• Skilled motivator of local and remote teams.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
