The Head of Liquidity Risk Management is responsible for managing multiple oversight functions and regular assessment of Liquidity Risk for the Bank. These functions include metric development, risk profile assessment, key controls testing and governance committee ownership. This role provides leadership and guidance to direct staff and other partners involved in Liquidity Risk globally. Additionally, this role will provide thought leadership, consultation, and will participate in business decisions with peers and senior management. Oversees, plans, and directs the activities for the Liquidity Risk unit, ensuring optimal use of resources.
Major Duties:
- Manages Risk through the direct management of a group. Oversees, plans, and directs the activities for the units, ensuring that the business objectives are being met.
- Develops, implements, and communicates an overall strategy in coordination with the Corporate Risk Council to meet both the business unit's and the corporation's strategic plan. Directs the activities of staff resources to support and facilitate business unit objectives.
- Oversees the financial and staff resources, including developing and managing capital and expense budgets, and ensuring the optimal use of resources.
- Assumes full accountability for the performance of the area as compared to the plan.
- Responsible for oversight, at the Business Unit level, of risk policy development and adherence.
- Ensures effective communication between business units and corporate risk/compliance entities.
- Participates in and/or presents to senior management and/or Board committees as appropriate.
Knowledge:
Thorough knowledge of Corporate, industry and Business Unit activities, compliance related requirements and risk mitigation techniques, is required to manage the function.
Leadership, organizational skills, and strategic vision are required to direct the activities for multiple units and to provide thought leadership and consulting throughout the business unit and/or the organization.
Analytical and communication skills are required to review/approve policies and procedures and to work with line areas to oversee and manage risk activities.
Experience:
10 or more years of industry experience, including significant exposure to key elements of risk, treasury functions, Risk Management, compliance and legal.
