Job description

About the role

At ANZ our purpose is to shape a world where people and communities thrive. We’re making this happen by constantly looking for ways to improve our customers’ financial wellbeing so they can achieve incredible things – whether they’re buying a home, building a business or saving for things big or small.  We also want to be the leading Australia and New Zealand based bank supporting our customers transition to net zero emissions by 2050.

This role will be an integral member of the coverage leadership group in America and the global Resources, Energy & Infrastructure (REI) network.  The individual will be responsible for leading the America REI coverage team including development and execution of portfolio strategy focused on building and growing the REI relationship banking franchise.

In this role, the individual will be expected to deepen relationships with existing clients and identify and build new customer relationships in America, into our Home Markets and across the Bank’s wider international footprint.

Working closely with the Head of Corporate Coverage, Country Heads, and the global REI team, the role involves setting sector strategy, people leadership and development, and coordination with Research & Analysis, Risk, Markets/Corporate Finance/Transaction Banking product partners and international stakeholders to deliver accretive revenue and returns growth to the portfolio.

The individual is required to take a disciplined approach to account planning and other client and portfolio management tasks, both within the REI team and across the broader Corporate Banking team. Furthermore, a comprehensive understanding of our risk principles, appetite, and return objectives and being able to successfully build these into long term customer planning are fundamental to the role.

Role Type: Permanent, Full Time

Role Location: New York, USA

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Ability to successfully lead teams, including interaction with credit and product partners to ensure product solutions are appropriately structured to meet needs of both client and bank.
  • Significant experience in origination, structuring and execution of corporate and structured financing transactions tailored to client requirements.
  • International REI banking related experience is preferred, with sector understanding and covering a range of banking products and services and their use through multiple economic cycles.
  • Demonstrates competence in global account management and the ability to navigate complex internal and external stakeholder networks.
  • Proven track record of building and developing high performing teams across geographies.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve targets with excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with clients at a senior level.

You’re not expected to have 100% of these skills. At ANZ, a growth mindset is at the heart of our culture, so if you have most of these things in your toolbox, we’d love to hear from you.

So, why join us?

This is an exciting time to be a leader within one of Australia's biggest banks as we take advantage of the rapid change and disruption of traditional banking business models.

As a Purpose-led bank, we’ve committed to delivering commercial and societal outcomes across environmental sustainability, financial wellbeing and housing affordability.  We deliver these sustainability commitments with our customers, in our business and across the communities where we operate.

Our culture is critical to making this happen so that we can adapt, evolve, and to flourish over the long term. That’s why we ask our people to focus on three key things: Creating Opportunities, Delivering What matters and Succeeding Together.

We support our leaders with tools, tips and online coaching so that they can help their teams focus on these things too, helping them to grow and succeed in their roles.

ANZ recognises the value of an inclusive and diverse work environment. We take pride in the diversity of our people and encourage applications from diverse candidates. If you are a candidate with a disability, let us know how we can provide you with additional support. Our recruitment decisions are based on the key inherent needs and requirements of each role, and candidates are selected based on their unique strengths and characteristics. We work flexibly at ANZ. Talk to us about how this role can be flexible for you.
