Position PurposeThe Head Fishing Guide and Camp Manager position is responsible for planning and executing professional and safe sportfish guiding services to guests and overseeing the daily activities at the Aleutian Rivers Angling Camp (Sapsuk).

Work EnvironmentThis job operates in an unpredictable, remote environment where phone and internet communications are limited. Most tasks will be performed at Aleutian Rivers Angling Camp (Sapsuk) and the surrounding areas. This role routinely spends extended periods of time working outdoors in cold, wet, and windy conditions.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and/or listen. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, hike, use hands and fingers to handle and/or feel, and reach with hands and arms to perform job duties properly and safely. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift gear and supplies up to 50 pounds.Required Education & Experience

Essential FunctionsHead Fishing Guide
- Applies knowledge of location to plan and execute safe sportfish guided services for individuals and groups.
- Applies knowledge to comply with local and state fishing laws and regulations, and company policies and procedures.
- Provides a safe and enjoyable guided fishing experience for camp guests.
- Safely operates and transports guests in small powered boats and ATVs to remote fishing areas.
- Instructs guests on single hand and two-handed fly-fishing techniques.
- Assists guests with the netting and safe handling of fish.
- Always maintain a friendly and warm demeanor with team members and guests.
- Overseeing the daily activities of the Aleutian Rivers Angling Camp (Sapsuk).
- Responsible for overall compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Oversees routine and basic maintenance to interior and exterior of the Camps.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Minimum of two (2) years of guided fly-fishing experience required.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience providing managerial services for wilderness or sportsman camps or lodges.
- Current Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADFG) sportFishing Guide license.
- Current U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) OUPV license.
- Valid drivers license and insurable under APICDAs insurance policy.
- Current First-Aid and CPR certification.
- Expert level understanding and knowledge of single hand and two-handed fly-fishing techniques.
- Knowledge and understanding of State of Alaska sportfishing regulations.
- Familiarity with terrain of local countryside and waterways.
- Prior work and/or living experience in remote wilderness setting.
- Must be able to work varied and extended hours.
- Basic understanding of customer service practices.
- General knowledge of APICDA communities, geographic locations, fisheries, and tourism.
