Academy of Art University Athletics serves as the lone art institutions in all of the NCAA Division II. The Urban Knights teams have made over 45 post-season appearances.
We are currently seeking a Head Coach to lead the Urban Knights Women's Basketball team. The Head Coach, Women's Basketball is responsible for managing all aspects of a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II Women's Basketball team. As Head Coach you will be coaching, scheduling, recruiting, promoting the program, developing a budget, supervising student athletes' academic performance, assisting with fund raising, public relations for sport and athletic department. Additional responsibilities include:
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and direct all aspects of the Women's Basketball program during pre- season, season and off-season periods
- Provide ongoing oversight of student athlete's conduct both on and off the court; assist with conflict resolution, development of positive interpersonal relationships including campus integration with other students and faculty
- Attend assigned college, department and division meetings as required
- Work closely with the athletic training staff to ensure the safety of all student-athletes
- Hire, supervise, develop and evaluate Assistant Coach(es)
- Recruit, retain and graduate successful student-athletes for Academy of Art University and the Women's Basketball program.
- Direct the individual player performance evaluation process
- Develop, with the athletic director, a competitive regional NCAA Division II basketball schedule
- Direct and supervise recruiting program
- Ensure proper supervision of athletes during practice, travel to and from competition, and during competition
- Ensure proper maintenance and repair of equipment
- Speak to alumni, organizations, high schools, and other groups to promote the basketball and athletic programs at Academy of Art University
- Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge and commitment to follow NCAA and Pacific West Conference rules and regulations
- Work closely with the athletic training staff to insure the safety of all student-athletes.
- Operate Academy and/or rental vehicle(s) in the course of completing the above-referenced job duties and observe all applicable federal and state motor vehicle laws
- Maintain valid California driver's license and insurability under the Academy's carrier
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and at least five years of related professional experience.
- First Aid, CPR and AED certifications are required.
- Possess excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Must work effectively with students, faculty, staff and administration.
- Must have a valid California driver's license and be insurable with the Academy's provider.
- Must ensure that all activities are operated in compliance with NCAA, Pacific West Conference and University rules and regulations.
- Must have a flexible schedule and be able to work evenings and weekends as needed for the University.
Compensation: $80,000 annual
