Purpose:
Lead continuous improvement activities in safety, first time quality, process reliability, throughput, new product implementation, and operating cost at GSP Finishing and Intermediate Finishing Line. Primary responsibilities include data and process analysis and project implementation for improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze production data to determine improvement opportunities. Gather the data and develop reports necessary to propose solutions to the GSP Leadership Team and Area Management. Ensure changes are systemic and include modifications required to the standards, quality systems, and training manuals. Train the affected personnel on improvements and changes made.
- Lead cross functional teams that are responsible for continuous improvement in the objectives of GSP Finishing and enhancement or creation of measurement systems which monitor and assist management to drive progress towards business plan objectives.
- Provide input to assist the GSP Finishing supervisors. Assist Area Management and Supervisors to monitor safety practices and procedures (e.g., internal safety program, meetings, accident investigations, etc.) that provide measurable improvements in worker safety.
- Lead quality, rework, and yield process improvement analysis efforts and solution implementation.
- Lead best practice identification, development, and implementation.
- Identify and plan training programs for the associates in Finishing where specific improvement activities require such training. Arrange, develop, and provide training as required. Assist Area Management to effectively manage hourly associates with issues relating to industrial relations and career development.
- Identify, investigate, develop, and negotiate the purchase for new sources of consumables and supplies to ensure the best value for the operations.
- Provide specialized feedback to upstream process paths and front-end business units, including supply chain and sales.
Technical Skills:
- Perform data manipulation in Microsoft Office Suite
- Communication skills
- Lean 6 or Lean Manufacturing project experience
- Problem solving skills
Internship Qualifications:
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Must have completed 30 or more credit hours by the end of the spring 2024 semester
- Must be a full-time student attending an accredited two-year or four-year college/university
- Preferred majors: Metallurgy, Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology.
