Group Sales Manager
Our company
The Courtyard by Marriott Bellevue Downtown is looking for a Group Sales Manager to join our team. We are managed by Puget Sound Hospitality which owns and operates 5 hotels in the Puget sound area.

The details
Location: 11010 NE 8th St. Bellevue, WA 98004.
Commute/Transportation: We are located just 1 block from the bus transit station and future Link Light rail station and offer a discounted annual ORCA pass. If you prefer to drive, we offer free parking to all of our employees in our underground garage.
Salary range: $68,000 - $73,000 annual salary plus potential to earn a 10% quarterly bonus based on meeting established sales goals.
Benefits: Our manager benefits package is available after 30 days of employment. This package includes medical, dental, vision, life, and AD&D. We also have 6 paid holidays.
PTO is accrued at 0.0538 hours per hour (or 4.66 hours semi-monthly) starting on day 1 of employment.
We partner with Colonial life to offer supplemental insurance options such as accident, short term disability, and whole life during our annual enrollment.
We have a 401(K) retirement plan available to all employees who are 21+ and have been employed for 6 months.
We offer Marriott employee room rates as well as Marriott friends and family room rates that can be used based on availability at any Marriott location worldwide.

The Group Sales Manager will generate group business in designated market segment and maximize revenue profitability using proactive sales activities in accordance with established hotel brand standards.
The daily job duties
  • Prospect for new business through solicitation, networking, cold calling.
  • Improve hotel visibility by conducting outside sales calls/blitzes, attending trade shows and market segment related events.
  • Meet or exceed established monthly, quarterly, and annual targeted sales goals and profit margins.
  • Maintain an active list of accounts to ensure continuous relationship development.
  • Develop and execute monthly focused and aggressive action plans.
  • Communicate with internal business partners on upcoming group needs, VIP clients, meeting functions. 
  • Maintain and secure repeat business through client satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry and trends in the market, particularly amongst competitor set.
  • Maintains regular attendance and is consistently on time.
  • Maintains high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include compliance with the dress code. 
  • Associate demonstrates effective oral/written communication.  
  • Personally demonstrates a commitment to customer service by anticipating and responding promptly to guest needs.
  • Associate follows corporate and hotel brand standards.  
  • Observes and adheres to safety and security procedures, promoting a safe work environment.   
  • Seeks out new assignments and assumes additional duties when necessary. 
  • Identifies areas that would improve the operation and generates suggestions. 
  • Able to reach effective solutions, poses good questions, consults helpful resources, and does not stop at the first answer he/she comes across. 
  • Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent.  
  • Takes ownership of all work performed and communicated.
  • Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan. 
  • Performs work with little or no supervision; works independently. 
  • Organizes resources, performs tasks, and coordinates with other functions to most effectively and efficiently perform work responsibilities and accomplish objectives on a timely basis.

Required SkillsThe Requirements
  • Minimum of 1 year of progressive experience in Hospitality; OR 4 year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major and 1 year of experience in Sales or related professional area.  
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. 
  • Ability to write simple correspondence. 
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. 
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.  
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. 
  • Ability to interpret and perform basic computer functions.
