The Graphic Design/Production Artistis a member of the Global Brand Experience division that is part of the team responsible for creation of final, print-ready mechanical art files for global product packaging products.
· Using strong knowledge of layout, Graphic Design, mechanical and printing production, creates print-ready mechanical files for approximately 500 packaging art files annually. Collaborates with Art Directors to create art files from approved concept layouts. Executes all changes and enhancements to the original design after routing for business review. Pre-flights files and performs quality evaluations for file size and resolution, and color separations before delivery to vendor. Reviews and recommends changes to vendor proofs prior to vendor printing/producing to ensure 100% accuracy for packaging components.
· Follows Brand Standards to ensure art files comply with the Mary Kay brand. Follows production standards to ensure art files are legal, regulatory and customs compliant. Responsible for following Mary Kay production guidelines for proper file naming convention, layer creation and file type for each step in the production process. Reviews packaging project briefs for inconsistencies, works through solutions with data owners and makes recommendations to business owners before beginning work on a project to increase project velocity and efficiency. Gains a technical working knowledge of the Artwork Management System (AMS) as it relates to the production role ensuring file guidelines are followed when uploading packaging art files into system.
· Responsible for having a full understanding of the interconnected processes of the Artwork Management System (AMS) packaging traffic system, including each step in the workflow process to ensure each art file is correctly reviewed through the system from initial art director review to submitting art files to vendor. Partners with data owners and/or internal team to work through any issues that arise in art file creation. Manages all mechanical production requirements to ensure the on-time delivery of the final files to the vendor.
· Responsible for creating test art in collaboration with Art Director and vendor on any unique specifications required to produce the component. Attend production handoff meeting with packaging art director to understand design specifications.
· Responsible for creating simple deco for all primary and secondary components to be used for photography samples, comp creation and retouching. Follows file naming guidelines and maintaining file organization of the simple deco file share.
· In periods of high demand, expected to support the marketing production team by building marketing deliverables and toolkits. Emphasis on making revisions from routings and ingesting final images, deliverables and linking images in DAM.
· This job requires on-site work at a Mary Kay facility.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education – Associate degree in graphics, advertising art or equivalent, plus
Experience – Minimum of 4 years experience with print artwork as evidenced in a portfolio of completed work.
· Strong understanding of printing knowledge and ability to follow graphic production instructions to produce 1-color, 2-color and 4-color process projects. |
· Must be highly detailed oriented to maintain and protect brand standards across a multitude of products with up to twenty languages and adhere to, regulatory and legal requirements inherent to the print process. |
· The ability to multi-task and adjust to changing production schedules is required. Must have the ability to anticipate potential issues with artwork along with problem solving skills to work both independently and with group owners on a solution. |
· Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to clearly communicate with co-workers, team members and management to resolve printing/layout issues. |
· Must be proficient in latest creative software systems (e.g. Adobe Creative Cloud graphic apps, Drop Box). |
· Incumbent may be required to work overtime evenings or weekends as workload demands. |
