Graduate Technical Designer - Diagnostics

As a Technical Designer, you will focus on the development and application of advanced digital workflows and data driven strategies that continuously advance our project delivery processes. You will work as a key member across Diagnostics teams in the delivery of complex and exciting projects, while simultaneously advancing our firmwide digital practice initiatives alongside fellow Technical Designers across the firm.

 Working within our team requires excellent written and spoken communication and presentation skills, a drive for continual improvement, and a commitment to life-long learning.  You will have frequent interactions with clients, architects, contractors, and Owners throughout the lifecycle of our projects, which range in scale, schedule, and complexity.  The position also requires being able to work on multiple projects with teams of engineers and modelers from multiple geographic locations.

 Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the development and deployment of digital workflows via code and visual scripting
• Assist in the development of BIM models and model-related deliverables
• Develop, communicate, and maintain modeling standards across the structures project delivery teams
• Develop and maintain online documentation around the latest digital practices across the firm
• Assist in the training of staff on the latest digital tools and standards being applied on projects
• Identify opportunities for improvement in project delivery related to technology and data-driven processes
• Develop visuals for communicating with clients and project teams to inform better design decisions
• Research and evaluate emerging technologies and their application to our projects

• 2-5 years of experience in developing and applying advanced digital workflows in the AEC industry;
• Demonstrated career growth that includes experience working on design teams for a variety of building types;
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or Civil Engineering with emphasis in Structural;
• Understanding of BIM as a process and concepts of parametric modeling, computational design, and interoperability;
• Extensive knowledge and experience in use of Revit and Rhinoceros and their corresponding visual programming interfaces;
• Ability to communicate visually with data visualizations, diagrams, and 3D visualizations;
• Capability of learning new software and associated techniques quickly
• Candidates must be proactive, have strong organizational skill, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be client-service oriented

Desired, but not Required:

• Experience in a programming language (ideally Python, C#, or Javascript)
• Experience with Git and collaborative coding
• Experience with Web Development
• Experience using PowerBI or similar data visualization tools
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
• Experience using Tekla Structures
• Experience with structural analysis software such as ETABs and SAP2000

In addition to the above, the qualified candidate will have relevant experience working on design of a variety of structures, including office buildings, commercial, sports, aviation, healthcare, education, and cultural buildings with construction costs of $25 million and up.

Qualified candidates should be high energy and self-motivated and able to work well within a strong team environment, serving clients on major projects throughout the United States and internationally.  Technical specialization, proactivity, and accountability when meeting client and project needs, are pluses.

To ensure the ability to setup a suitable home office space, Walter P Moore offers a one-time $1,000.00 HRF stipend that would be paid upon completion of the first week of employment. An additional $50 monthly HRF stipend will also be provided to cover ongoing home office expenses.
