ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY: The Computational Intelligence Lab within the Department of Computer Science at Cal Poly Pomona is excited to announce opportunities for student research assistant positions funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). Our ongoing research investigates novel numerical methods that leverage the computing power of modem High-Performance Computing systems to quickly solve large-scale computational problems that arise in the fields of science and engineering.
ABOUT US: As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Foundation offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year. The Foundation offers positions in various fields; whether it is in the area of technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitalityl500 management, leadership or research grants, these student employees participate in Cal Poly Pomona's learn-by-doing philosophy and acquire practical skills in their designated field of study.
The Foundation also contributes operating support to nearly 1,100 Foundation and scholarship programs every year, including Bronco Athletics and the Norman J. Priest Scholarship. In addition, the Foundation administers grants and contracts, contributes to campus security, and supports several university publications. The Foundation contributes over $1 million annually to Cal Poly Pomona.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):
In this position option, we are looking for highly motivated students who have a solid background in GPU computing or parallel programming in CIC++.
MINIMUMEDUCATIONANDEXPERIENCE:
- Enrollment as a current graduate student studying at Cal Poly Pomona
- Availability to dedicate 20 hours per week during academic semesters and/or 40 hours per week during summer for research.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a research team
- Participation in research and training activities for undergraduate students, community college students, and/or high school students in the lab.
- Passion, self-motivation, and
- Familiarity with utilizing CUDA for GPU computing and performance
- Familiarity with CIC++
- Experience with Linux/Unix
