Action Day offers a variety of extracurricular activities within our regular program including Spanish, Dance, PE, daily electives, an all-inclusive sports program, and Life-Skill education. Students at West Valley Middle School have access to the latest in technology including Apple TV’s and an iPad for every student. All students are warmly accepted and guided along their educational path throughout our program. Bullying and "slipping through the cracks" simply do not happen at our school due to our small, family-like atmosphere. Students are held to high standards while enjoying school. As a result, our 8th-grade graduates go on to schools such as Archbishop Mitty, St. Francis, Notre Dame, Bellarmine, and many others!

Position Available: Full-time Middle School Computer Science Teacher

Start date: August 8, 2023

Compensation: $55,000-70,000/yr. depending on individual experience, education and position requirements.

As a Computer Science Teacher, you will collaborate with teachers to create lesson plans and integrate the core curriculum into Computer Science projects. As you guide students through our exciting, Computer Science curriculum, you will have the opportunity to monitor, document, and assess student progress, maintain close communication with the principal and parents regarding student issues, and conduct parent-teacher conferencing. Along with ensuring the highest quality of care, you will represent Action Day as the campus point person/ambassador of technology integration and Computer Science and participate in school events and staff training events.

As an Educational Technology Role Model, you will contribute to the development and implementation of a shared vision for the comprehensive integration of technology to promote excellence and support transformational change throughout the instructional environment of the school. Along with assisting teachers and stakeholders in effectively using technology for assessing student learning, differentiating instruction and providing authentic, engaging learning experiences for students, you will coach the use of technology in the classroom aligned with the ISTE standards, to address the needs of modern learners while modeling support and promoting digital citizenship and e-safety. This role also includes oversight of educational technology resources and collaboration with the IT department and the campus principal.

Requirements

Our ideal candidate will come to us with:

• 3-5 years of teaching experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to build strong relationships and offer exceptional customer service
• Alignment with our core values especially positive discipline and restorative practices as well as a sense of fun
• Understanding of technology operations and concepts- knowledge of key learning theories and practices in relation to technology integration is a plus!
• A demonstrated hard-working, flexible attitude and ability to manage a complex workload, prioritize tasks, and use good judgment in providing services based on goals
• A mindset of continuous Professional Learning and improvement

Technical Skills/Experience:

• Understanding of Digital Literacy and wellbeing
• Knowledge of CSTA, ISTE and other academic technology standards
• Ability to troubleshoot to solve minor technology and connectivity issues
• Proficient in Microsoft and Google Productivity tools
• Experience with programming, and using and teaching with educational software
• Experience with a variety of instructional technology in the classroom such as computers, projectors, interactive whiteboards, and printers
• Robotics experience is a plus!
