Position Title:Golf Shop Assistant
Location: Cathedral City, CA at Desert Princess
Reporting To: Director of Golf
Status: Non-Exempt, Part-Time, Seasonal
Salary: $17.00 - $19.00/per hour

EMPLOYEE OWNER POSITION PURPOSE:
The Golf Shop Assistant is responsible for assisting the Director of Golf with the daily operations and activities of the Golf Shop. Key areas of focus include arranging tee times, selling merchandise, and accepting payments. This role is best suited to individuals who have some knowledge of and/or enjoy the game of golf.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist the Director of Golf and Head Golf Professional in golf instruction management
• Promote a positive environment that supports the needs of the golfers
• Deliver helpful, friendly, and consistent customer service
• Coordinate and assist with golf functions, including member/outside tournaments, scoring, and other support
• Perform Starter duties (checking in players, calling tee times, etc.)
• Maintain thorough knowledge of shop merchandise and effectively sell to customers
• Operate the cash register and receive/process payments from customers (cash, credit, and member cards)
• All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma (or equivalent)
• Experience or on-the-job training in golf instruction, operations, and rules; at least (2) years on a course is highly preferred
• Retail sales experience is a big plus
• Conflict resolution skills and a high degree of diplomacy/tact
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Must be a team player who is committed to delivering high-level customer service
• Adaptable and dependable with a solid attendance record
• Professional and respectful demeanor with all staff and guests at all times
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions with minimal supervision

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and driving record in compliance with Company policy

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Use standard office equipment, including: computer, phone, copier/scanner, etc.
• Use standard retail store equipment, including: register, merchandise tools, etc.
• Be stationary or in motion for periods of time
• Relocate up to (25) pounds
• Travel to and from offsite locations

• Schedule varies and includes weekends and holidays
• This position may require occasional long hours to meet business needs
