Form of workSource materials for assigned commodities, manage the supply base, and develop all contractual terms on selected materials to optimize quality, reliability, price, delivery and availability. Lead Supply Chain improvement initiatives like inventory reduction and management, Vendor managed inventory programs. Identify any cost or lead time reduction opportunities to improve Supply Chain performance. Manages logistics process for procured product getting quotes from freight companies, freight forwarders and getting all documentation prepared and approved.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform day to day purchasing functions as needed; communicate with vendors, establish priorities and requirements based on Advanced Supply Chain Planning, prepare Requests for Quote (RFQ’s), work within MRP, issue purchase orders, ensure all price variances are justified, obtain realistic delivery dates, and confirm orders, notify operations or production planning of any delays that will impact customer’s delivery.
- Generate and manage transfer orders and work closely with suppliers to ensure dates are in line with purchase orders.
- Responsible for purchasing raw material and/or finished goods with consistent quality, on-time delivery, and at the lowest cost. Analyze supplier quotes and make best purchasing decision based on the needs of the organization.
- Source inventory internally before placing any purchase orders. Work with manufacturing, repair centers, and engineering on overstock, surplus, and excess (OES) inventory.
- Manage ERP item master attributes that impact Advanced Supply Chain Planning
- Manage order logistics - confirm all shipping instructions, provide shipping documents to receiving business for review, obtain freight quotes with freight forwarder and obtain freight approvals.
- Identify and select primary and secondary suppliers. Work to add new suppliers to the Approved Supplier List (ASL) as needed.
- Lead the procurement role in special projects as they are identified.
- Work with cross functional teams to target inventory reduction and maintenance plans to reduce working capital. Actively pursue cost reduction programs with suppliers to lower costs and improve service or material availability.
- Work with Quality Control on any discrepancies and approve Quality documents before shipping. Process any supplier NCR’s.
- Work with Product Line on rationalization projects as well as cutter launches which will include working with our supplier to ramp up and down our vendor managed inventory.
- Evaluate and monitor vendor performance using vendor performance matrix based on knowledge of prices, delivery, and quality. Maintain metrics, monitor improvements, and document processes as required.
- Generate forecast sheets provided to all regions monthly, consolidate forecast sheets returned from regions, and provide forecast details to suppliers.
- Run reports as needed and work effectively within Microsoft platform and NOV systems.
EDUCATION AND EXPEIRENCE
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Some college preferred.
- Purchasing experience and MRP experience preferred.
