The Role
QuidelOrtho is looking for a Global Product Management Intern that wants to spend their 2024 summer working towards our mission: Changing Lives, One Test at a Time. Interns will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and develop their skills all while contributing to key company projects and initiatives. Our team will help students apply their educational background and broaden their knowledge base within their role and learn more about working in the medical device/biotech industry. Interns will work with a mentor(s) on a guided and impactful project and will be able to collaborate with and be part of a supportive and dedicated team.
This Internship is a full-time (40 hours per week) paid program for 12-weeks.
Cohort 1: May 20th through August 12th
Cohort 2: June 17th through September 9th
This Intern will be remote with travel into office as needed at either our Raritan, NJ or Rochester, NY office.
The Responsibilities
- Support the Global Product Management Team by researching product-level market trends and define product needs on evolving disease areas and potential new tests the company may develop.
- Work in a team environment to create and support product and marketing strategies.
- Develop or refine marketing collateral, training content, or selling tools for key products.
- Support global sales in their selling/marketing efforts for product lines through improvements to our RFP/tender response process and tools.
- Perform data mining and spreadsheet analysis to understand trends in our business.
- Develop analytical models to forecast and track customer adoption and usage of new products.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
The Individual
Required:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Field of Study: Business Management, Marketing, Biology or Life Science related field.
- Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student in a Bachelor's or Master's program in the Fall Semester 2024 at an accredited university or college.
- Minimum GPA 3.0 or higher.
- Able to start on either May 20th or June 17th.
- Ability to complete a consecutive 10-12 week internship.
- Strong desire to learn along with professional drive and ability to take initiative and be resourceful.
- Strong business acumen and solid understanding of different marketing techniques
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business and or medical periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Project management and organizational skills and the ability to manage to tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to solve complex business problems.
- Ability to balance collaborative and independent work.
- Excellent written, oral, social media-based and interpersonal communication skill.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint along with strong general computer skills.
- Must have work authorization in the United States at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Preferred:
- Candidates currently enrolled in a graduate program and will have completed their first year of the program prior to the start of the internship.
- Exposure to Lean and Six Sigma Principles.
- Familiarity and/or experience working in diagnostic/medical industry.
- Prior business or intern experience.
- Familiarity with market research methodologies and tools.
The Work Environment
No strenuous physical activity, though occasional light lifting of files and related materials is required. 30% of time in meetings, working with team, or talking on the phone, 70% of the time at the desk on computer, doing analytical work.
Salary Transparency
The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary range for current Freshman, rising Sophomore is 18.00/hour; Sophomore, rising Junior is 20/hour; Junior, rising senior is $23.00/hour to $26.00/hour; Senior, enrolled in school for fall 2024 is 25.00/hour to 28.00/hour; or currently enrolled Graduate, MBD, PhD program is 28.00/hour to 30.00/hour. At QuidelOrtho, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
