Global Head of Commercial Legal
As Global Head of Commercial Legal at Adyen you will be involved in all Commercial Legal matters, procedures, and documents affecting Adyen. In particular, you will become responsible for ensuring our Commercial Legal team can scale with and successfully support our commercial teams and other cross functional partners while managing Adyen's risk profile. In this capacity, we expect you to know how to stand your ground in a fast-moving environment, manage tough commercial escalations and negotiations, and to be a strong people manager who can work across time zones. You have a passion for our business and you would like to contribute to ensure the further growth of Adyen.
Your Responsibilities:

• Lead two teams of Commercial Legal professionals focused on Commercial Legal matters across the globe with leads and primary team locations in the US and the Netherlands.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders, including commercial sales teams, product teams, and regulatory teams, ensuring that Commercial Legal matters are effectively and efficiently managed.
• Advance and support the commercial businesses growth.
• Execute and advance the global legal strategy and set the global strategy for the Commercial Legal team.
• Hire, coach, and develop the Commercial Legal team, to ensure and maintain high performance.
• Stay up to date with contract law and principles in all relevant regions and ensure these are appropriately addressed in commercial agreements.
• Advance efficiencies in negotiations, manage the creation and maintenance of templates, and ensure agreements are scalable and adequately cover risks across the company.
• Liaise with senior management and provide legal support on an ad-hoc basis.

Your Qualifications:

• You are an attorney with at least 7 years of Commercial Legal experience, either as an attorney or in-house counsel in international setting working on commercial matters.
• You have leadership experience managing a team of attorneys.
• You have excellent communication skills, are comfortable interfacing with senior management, and have strong interpersonal people management skills.
• You can use technology and data to automate and scale key processes.
• You have the ability to structure and prioritize in a high volume, fast-paced environment and build and drive processes to completion.
• You are able to work across time zones quickly, decisively, and independently
• You can gather appropriate input and make clear, well-reasoned decisions.
• You are available to work from our New York office and travel to other offices, including Amsterdam, periodically.
• You are fluent in English, both written and spoken.
