The role of Global Accountant is within our Abbott Rapid Diagnostics business located in Charlottesville, Virginia.
As a Global Accountant, you'll Perform a variety of complex duties in general accounting such as analyzing accounts, preparing reports, reconciling intercompany accounts, performing the monthly financial close and consolidation, initiating bank transfers, maintaining fixed assets and CIP, and maintaining & performing software interfaces with SAP.
What You’ll Work On
- Oversees the maintenance of accounts and records by managing disbursements, expenses, and income.
- Compiles and analyzes financial information through the preparation of reports, general ledger entries, and journal entries.
- Assures financial accuracy by preparing business unit and consolidated income statements balance sheets and other accounting statements and reports.
- Design, modify, install, and maintain general accounting systems to provide records of assets, liabilities, and financial transactions.
- Establishes and communicates accounting policies by maintaining a thorough understanding of GAP and new accounting guidance as appropriate.
- Specific to the fixed asset specialty: Process capital requests and maintain fixed asset database.
- Specific to travel specialty: Responsible for monitoring adherence to Abbott travel and expense policies by auditing reports ensuring the accuracy of expense reporting and maintaining interfaces.
- Works under general supervision. Receives limited supervision on standard issues, and detailed instructions on new assignments.
- Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment, overall adequacy, and accuracy.
- Plans organizes, and prioritizes own daily work routine to meet established schedule.
- May demonstrate basic project management skills by acting as a project lead on small, well-defined projects.
- Guides less experienced staff,and occasionally to first levels of management.
- Exercises authority and judgment within defined limits to determine appropriate action.
- Failure to achieve results or erroneous decisions or recommendations may cause delays and may result in the reallocation of additional resources.
- Perform this job in a quality system environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (± 16 years) in accounting, preferred an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Min 2 years of experience in the relevant field.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-6 years experience in accounting.

The base pay for this position is $57,300.00 – $114,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
