Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm; occasional weekends

Primary Duties/Brief Description of Work:
The Gillespie Golf Course Maintenance Supervisor position will be responsible for the health, aesthetics, and overall playability of Gillespie Golf Course. The position will lead a crew of maintenance personnel in planning, prioritizing, and scheduling regular golf course maintenance tasks including, but not limited to; care and maintenance of the turf, ornamental plants, shrubs, trees, bunkers, irrigation, fertilization, creek bank maintenance, pest management and placement of holes. The Maintenance Supervisor position might be for you if: you enjoy working outdoors and have knowledge of management and maintenance of greens, fairways, and roughs, if you have experience using various equipment and tools such as mowers, tractors, specialized golf course maintenance equipment, small powered equipment and hand tools used in grounds care, utility vehicles and golf carts, if you have knowledge of safe use, mixing and application of chemicals and commercial products, if you enjoy scheduling and supervising the work of crew members, ensuring compliance with safe work practices, if you possess great communication skills to ensure the highest level of customer service, and if you are relentless in meeting the needs of our residents, ensuring they have a great golf experience.
A NC Pesticide License is required to be obtained within 6 months of employment in order to remain in the position. The physical duties include but are not limited to standing, walking, or kneeling for extended periods of time, lifting or moving moderate to heavy weights and equipment, and operating assigned vehicles and equipment. Maintain awareness of personal danger that may include exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals and materials, electrical hazards, and hazards associated with working in and near traffic. Adapt to a work environment and conditions that may involve working closely with others, working alone, exposure to dust and dirt, high levels of noise, and various weather conditions.
This job is Non-Exempt and is subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree with 4-6 years of golf course maintenance experience
- "OR" an equivalency of a High School Diploma with 6+ years of "related" golf course maintenance experience
- Valid Driver's License
- NC Pesticide License ("OR" the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date)
- Prior work experience operating hand tools, mechanical equipment and power tools
- 1-3 years of supervisory experience
An Ideal Candidate Would Also Possess (Preferred Qualifications):
- Bachelor's Degree in Turfgrass Management
- Experience applying chemicals and fertilizers
- Experience/knowledge of irrigation systems
- Microsoft software experience - i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook
