Job Description
As an entry-level geotechnical engineering field team member, you will be responsible for supporting various aspects of geotechnical engineering evaluations and practices under the guidance of senior staff. Your role will involve assisting in project management, technical development, and business development activities to contribute to the success of our projects.
• Support senior staff in overseeing, managing, and directing geotechnical engineering evaluations for projects of varying complexity.
• Assist in preparing subsurface investigation proposals and contribute to marketing efforts for acquiring subsurface investigation projects.
• Aid in the technical development of engineering staff members.
• Collaborate with marketing in business development activities, including attending short-list interviews and assisting in the preparation of proposals and statements of qualifications.
• Contribute to maintaining company-established chargeability goals and work closely with the marketing group to acquire geotechnical investigation projects.
Requirements
• Basic understanding of both design- and construction-related aspects of geotechnical engineering.
• Familiarity with foundation design principles including shallow and deep foundation design.
• Knowledge of field infiltration testing methods and development of design infiltration rates.
• Strong technical writing skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with colleagues and clients.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil/geotechnical engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in using software tools such as Settle3D, Slide, AllPile, L-Pile, Shaft, CLiq, and LiquefyPro (desired).
• Knowledge of California GE regulations.
Preferred Skills:
• Familiarity with site-specific ground motion studies.
• Experience with cement- and lime-treated mix design per Greenbook standards. • Previous interaction with CGS/DSA/OSHPD/GMED reviewers.
• Exposure to sales and marketing activities for government agencies.
• Demonstrated leadership skills in managing a team.
