Duties include preparing geotechnical recommendations related to building foundations, pavement designs, bridges, landfills, soil liners, retention ponds, communication towers and other elements requiring the involvement of a Geotechnical Engineer. Responsible for establishment of initial site reconnaissance plan, subconsultant coordination and management, field explorations and sampling, data evaluation, laboratory soil characteristic and strength testing program, regulatory research, and preparation of final geotechnical reports. Candidate should have experience with deep foundation systems including drilled pier, caissons, auger cast piles, pipe piles, prestressed concrete piles, etc. Must have good technical report writing skills, the ability to manage multiple project assignments, and be responsible for project profitability.
The successful candidate must have construction estimating experience, change order management experience, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced office environment. Prior project experience should include public works, commercial, transportation, high-rise, hospitals and schools with project values ranging from $1 million to $1 billion. Northern California site experience preferred.
Candidate Requirements:
- California-licensed Geotechnical Engineer
- Master of Science degree in soil mechanics engineering or a closely related field is desired but a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering will be considered
- Minimum 10 years of related geotechnical experience
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Computer experience including CAD, gINT, Geosystems, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
- Experience with budget management, change orders and contract administration procedures
- Ability to prepare and present at proposal presentation, project start up and management meetings
- Self-motivated and results driven
- Consistently able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
