Job Description
Geolex, Inc.® is an international environmental consulting firm comprised of geoscientists and regulatory specialists that provides litigation support, liability assessment, due diligence, and strategic environmental services, and is seeking a full-time experienced Geoscientist or Environmental Scientist to join our Albuquerque, New Mexico team. Since 1996, we have supported clients as technical experts and project managers, addressing complex environmental matters and have developed specialized expertise in geologic sequestration solutions (e.g., UIC Class II waste disposal, including carbon capture and storage) as an environmentally responsible and cost-effective approach to handling by-products of natural gas processing.
As a member of the team, you will contribute to the development and implementation of geologic sequestration projects including subsurface feasibility evaluations and project development, regulatory permitting and compliance, on-site supervision of construction operations, and post-construction operations monitoring and maintenance. Additionally, the selected candidate will assist project managers and senior staff in developing client-specific environmental solutions and providing environmental litigation support services.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. or M.S. Geology, Geological Engineering, Environmental Science, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field
- Open to experienced candidates in like or related fields (position and compensation to be commensurate with applicant’s experience and education)
- Proficient technical writing skills and the ability to effectively communicate written and orally
- Engaged, team-focused, and reliable individual capable of balancing and contributing to multiple long-term projects and meeting expected completion deadlines
- Ability and willingness to travel (up to approximately 20% travel may be required) potentially for periods of up to two months
- May be required to occasionally lift moderately heavy objects (up to 30 pounds)
- May be required to conduct field work outdoors in potentially rugged terrain for several hours
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to utilize ArcGIS platforms for geospatial analysis and map development
- Experience in subsurface interpretation, including utilization of geological interpretation (e.g., GeoGraphix, Petra, Petrel, etc.) software and/or data analysis software (e.g., Spotfire) to support and progress project investigations
- Experience conducting site visits to record field observations and/or collect field data
- Ability to review and evaluate federal and state regulations to develop appropriate work plans that ensure regulatory compliance
- Ideal candidate would have working knowledge and experience permitting injection wells under the EPA Underground Injection Control Program in New Mexico and Texas (or others) and associated regulatory compliance requirements
- Ideal candidate will possess prior work experience in environmental litigation, remediation, carbon sequestration, or additional relevant or related fields
COMPENSATION/BENEFITS
- Base salary will be dependent upon candidate level of experience and education
