We are accepting applications for a Geologist 2 - within the Division of Oil and Gas Resources Management, headquartered in Franklin County within the state of Ohio. What you will do…
- Conduct geologic research & investigations (e.g., casing programs, spacing information, depth & geologic formations) for oil & gas vertical or horizontal drilling & plugging applications submitted for permit issuance (e.g., new well, revised location, deepen, plug back, re-issue)
- Evaluate casing programs using geologic & hydrogeologic data; ensure applications, plats, casing pro-grams, etc. meet the requirements of Ohio Revised Code [ORC] Chapter 1509 & Ohio Administrative Code [OAC] Chapter 1501 & applicable federal rules & regulations
- Contact appropriate owner for more complete & detailed technical information (e.g., ingress & egress roads, location coordinates, geological formations, emergency contact information, etc.) prior to recommending approval of drilling & plugging applications
- Research geologic & hydrogeologic area information, environmental policies & procedures prior to recommending approval of variance requests; assist with field investigations when necessary
- Starting hourly pay of $25.45/hr with multiple pay increases over your first 5.5 years of service, with an end salary of $33.63/hr.
UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
May require travel or overnight travel; may be exposed to unpleasant weather conditions and/or dangerous machinery.

Completion of undergraduate core program in geology AND 12 mos. exp. in geologic field, laboratory &/or drafting methods.
