WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

We are looking for an experienced leader in the agriculture industry who is eager to lead and support the development of a highly effective team at Owenton Cooperative, Inc. The General Manager is tasked with oversight of operations (agronomy, propane sales & service, bulk petroleum sales, feed, account receivables, HR, farm supplies, etc).

A few key areas of emphasis include:

Direct responsibility for financial performance of the company

Leading initiatives to achieve operational excellence, retaining and growing customer base, and maximizing sales volume and profitability

Developing consistent standards for all facilities in assigned area: profitability, volume, margins, expense control, audit, credit, environmental, safety and policy compliance, people, performance and salary, inventory management, events, and company image

Promoting the brand and business philosophy in a positive and customer-focused manner throughout the community

Fostering employee engagement

Continuous personal and professional development/education

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or Business and a passion and motivation for exceeding goals

5 or more years of related experience in agriculture sales or plant operations

At least 3 years in a leadership role or proven previous leadership/management experience

Extensive knowledge of plant operations, sales management, agricultural industry best-practices, and leadership skills

Tools & Equipment

Tools and equipment will vary based on location. Below is a general description.

Hand held scanner, telephone, hand held radio, computer, printer, scanner, copier, fax machine, writing instrument, reports, logs, spreadsheets, point-of-sale terminal, seed processing equipment, fertilizer and crop protectant blenders and spreaders (dry row spreader, John Deere dry body, Spreader Trucks and/or Terra-Gator, spray trucks with 40-60 foot boom coverage, Crop Sprayers with 80-120 foot boom coverage), loaders, forklifts, pick-ups, delivery trucks, and other tools and equipment.
