Must possess FDNY Certificate of Fitness S95 to supervise the visual inspection of the Fire Alarm without a voice communication system or be able to obtain this certification within 60 days from the date of employment. Must possess FDNY Certificate of Fitness S12 to be able to inspect, test, and maintain sprinkler systems in buildings or structures in NYC or be able to obtain this certification within 60 days from the date of employment. Located in Harlem, NY at a school and will require fingerprinting and a background check.

Position Description:
The General Maintenance Technician I performs daily work orders, small capital projects, routine preventative maintenance, routine work, new installations, and cleanup.
Generally, Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Due to the nature of this position, work before and/or after hours, as well as on weekends may also be required.
Essential Duties:
- Assists HVAC and electrical mechanics in performing preventative maintenance (PM) tasks on equipment, examining for wear and tear, and making required repairs as needed.
- Assists and performs PM tasks on items such as roof drains, shop cleanup, and all other assigned areas.
- Adheres to applicable state and local safety rules.
- Assists and perform with activities such as painting and priming of interior and exterior walls, hanging, and finishing sheetrock, hanging white boards, installing fixtures, etc.
