The Gas & Power Sr. Compliance Analyst is accountable for the Commercial Compliance function supporting Power and Gas Commercial Trading. The role will have the primary responsibility for keeping up to date on all applicable regulations and ensuring the implementation of those regulations impacting commercial trading. This function will help ensure the Commercial business remains in compliance with both internal and external trading policies and guidelines. You will also have an advisory component in this role supporting the activities of trading and will escalate issues when necessary. This role will require interaction and coordination with the following groups: Front-Office Trading, and Legal; Commercial Risk Management; Commercial Integration; Canada/London/Singapore Compliance; Internal Audit; and Controllers.
Responsibilities May Include
- Ability to multi-task and work in an international team environment and cross-functional support and interact with Front Office, Back Office, Middle Office, and Global Compliance on a daily and ad hoc basis
- Ability to analyze large amounts of data and compile information as evidence to demonstrate compliance and provide regulatory guidance around trading activities
- Knowledge of gas products, ISO/RTO power products (including FTRs and Virtual trades)
- Commercial competence of traded products, markets, and strategies, both physical and paper-based trading
- Demonstrate knowledge of CFTC, FERC, and ISO rules for power, renewables, and gas markets
- Provide oversight, analysis, and guidance to employees and/or business units
- Respond and advise on inquiries and investigations, as needed
- Assist managers in the development and delivery of compliance training
- Monitor compliance activities at regulatory agencies and inform managers, directors, and business units of new and changing regulatory environment
- Communicate new or revised compliance documentation and policies
- Demonstrate knowledge of Exchange, FERC and/or CFTC regulatory required reporting and ensure relevant departments make filings timely
Required Qualifications
- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
- Bachelor's degree
- 5 or more years of direct Commercial involvement that includes exposure to front and mid- office trading activities with a focus on Natural Gas and Power Trading
- Working knowledge of the following commodities/markets: Natural Gas, Power and financial derivatives
- Experience influencing, developing and implementing new business processes
Preferred Qualifications
- Market Trade Surveillance experience
- Effective and well-developed written and oral communication skills are vital to this position.
- Ability to manage multiple/conflicting priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Constantly looks for business process improvement opportunities
- Excellent interpersonal and team skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced knowledge of Excel and pivot tables. Familiarity with Allego, Right Angle Aligne and SAP4 trade capture systems is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Tableau Creator is a plus.
- Proficient knowledge of regulations, exchange rules, relevant laws, and typical internal policies
