The RCS Press Operator performs all tasks in make-ready, preventative maintenance and production run assignments. The Press Operator is responsible for set-up and ensuring that quality is to the highest standards and that production schedules are met as required. Responsibilities
- Operates assigned equipment in accordance with the manufacturer specifications and guidelines.
- Operates RCS printing press to print designs or lettering on rolls of flexible plastic film, paper, and nonabsorbent stock for use in making labels.
- Reads and is familiar with all documented procedures within the area of responsibility.
- Performs all tasks according to the production schedule.
- Thoroughly reads and complies with all special instructions and specifications.
- Reads the job order, mounts cutting dies, embossing dies, installs print cylinders, and secures assembly in bed of press.
- Fills trays.
- Sets impression registration.
- Starts press, adjusting speed, tension, and alignment of printing plate as necessary.
- Cuts sample of printed material from end of printed roll and inspects for imperfections, such as blurred or off-center impressions.
- Monitors the production during run quality, maintaining all required samples.
- Must work well with others in a team environment.
- Recording of time and production for job costing.
- Performs all required preventative maintenance in accordance with production schedule.
- Maintains a clean and organized work area and press.
- Observe company work rules and safety regulations.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee will be located throughout production and around moving mechanical parts and vibrations
- Able to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 50lbs, and work in a non-climate-controlled warehouse.
- High frequency of viewing a computer monitor
- Lift/Carry – 10% of Shift
- Walk – 20% of Shift
- Squat/Kneel – 25% of Shift
- Stand – 90% of Shift
- Ability to work with a variety of personalities in a congenial and productive manner. Able to take directions.
- Strong working knowledge of various mathematical concepts including fractions, ratios, and proportions.
- Demonstrate ability to analyze and interpret information.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus – all with or without corrective lenses.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to read, speak, and write English fluently.
- Highly self-motivated and productive. Able to follow task to completion. Able to keep pace in a production setting.
- Excellent prioritizing skills, excellent attention to detail. Strong organizational skills
- Flexible, adaptable as necessary to perform job. Job description may expand according to necessity.
- Demonstrate ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Computer Skills: Basic computer skills such as writing comprehensive presentable reports, communication with suppliers, technical assistance, or supervisors by e-mail.
- Required to pass the Color Vision Test with a Superior score.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Prior packaging experience.
- Inspection and/or production experience very helpful
- Combination of education and experience determined by hiring manager.
