The City of McMinnville Fire Department is looking for initiative driven individuals with a passion for helping others. Our Firefighter position serves the City to protect life and property of the citizens of McMinnville by firefighting and answering emergency calls.
The Firefighter positions are compensated based on experience and training. Firefighter I salary range is $34,263-$37,419 and Firefighter II salary range is $38,029-$41,556. The city offers 14 paid holidays in addition to the salary stated. The Fire Department works a 24 hour shift every third day; one day on two days off. The department has many promotional opportunities, training opportunities, specialized units and tuition reimbursement.

The City also offers an ample amount of paid time off. Annual time is accrued 48 hours year one increasing to 102 hours in year two plus 52 hours of personal time. Sick time is accrued monthly beginning day one.

Minimum Requirements
- HS Degree or equivalent
- Have a valid drivers license
- Satisfactory completion of 1 & 2 of the firefighter commission within 3 years
- Must have a minimum of Emergency Medical Responder Certification within one year of hire date
- Physically able to wear complete set of protective clothing and self-contained breathing apparatus for extended periods of time
Job Functions
Removes persons from danger, administers first aid to injured persons
Responds to fire alarms, connects hoses, holds nozzle and directs water stream on the scene of a fire
Forces entry of premises for firefighting, rescue and salvage operations, uses chemical fire extinguishers, bars, hooks, lines and other equipment
Performs hazardous tasks under emergency conditions which may involve extreme exertion under such handicaps as smoke and cramped surroundings
Carries charged hose line into structure for fire extinguishments
Positions and climbs ladders to gain access to upper levels of buildings
Attends Training Classes in firefighting, first-aid, and related subjects
Participates in periodic hose test, which involves unloading and reloading fire hose on the truck
Performs general maintenance work in the up-keep of the Fire Department
Receives and dispatches messages by radio and telephone
Participates in flow testing fire hydrants, which involves taking caps off hydrant and opening up hydrant checking water flow
