*Must have experience with various types of equipment, (engine sizes types, Pickups, cars, ATV, etc.)
*Must know lubrication requirements and the use of standard shop tools and procedures. *Must have knowledge of the following mechanical systems: air conditioning, hydraulic, electronic and electrical, brake and related systems, steering, functions and limitations of equipment systems, technical advances in equipment systems, technical manuals and service handbooks.
*Must have the ability to select and operate repair equipment, select and order appropriate parts and materials, post updates to technical manuals, recognize problems or potential problems, prioritize order of diagnostic steps, retrieve information from computer files or shop manuals, apply municipal requirements for Inspection and maintenance (IM) of vehicles, prioritize inspection steps, select and properly operate diagnostic equipment, use precision measuring instruments, apply electronic analysis to equipment problem diagnoses, and manipulate tools in confined spaces.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
*Alaska Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
*Skill in diagnosis of equipment failure and effecting repair and the use of precision tools and diagnostic equipment.
*Ability to overhaul engines (types vary with duty station). Preferred Experience & Education:
Multiple years of Light Duty Mechanic shop experience, or a at least one year with ASE, (or equivalent), certifications. Valid Alaska Driver's License; compliance with UA Safe Driving criteria.
Salary Information:CT1 Step 1 - $23.48/hr

This is a full-time, 12-month, non-exempt staff position with a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.
