Heavy Duty Mechanic - Generator Experience

The shift rotation for this position is5x2.
The hourly rate for this position is$34.04 - $48.63 per hour dependent upon experience.
At SMS Equipment, our Heavy Duty Mechanic - Generator Experience are responsible for providing repairs, and overhauls onpower generation equipment. This position will employ logic and deductive reasoning in diagnosing and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Repairs equipment and components, including - Development of a repair plan and sequence, determining necessary parts, materials, tooling, etc.
• Performing repairs efficiently and safely, with proper quality assurance testing of repair component or system and machine
• Maintains and completes all necessary reports accurately and in a timely fashion (parts ordering, special tooling, daily service reports, time cards, and work order, etc.)
• Maintains proper care and use of special tools including major shop equipment.
• Uses Company vehicle, service truck, and fuel cards properly
• Maintains work area and/or service vehicle in a safe and clean manner.
• Think logically and keep up with changes in technology.
• Interprets work orders and technical manuals.
• Follows all company policies and procedures and employs workplace health and safety practices at all times.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have anAssociates Degree in Diesel or Equipment Technology or five (5) years of apprenticeship experience. Additional qualifications include:

• Experience in repair/maintenance of power generation equipment in related industry.
• Experience with Generac power systems is considered an asset.
• Technician Classification is based on experience, knowledge, and competence.
• Must be experienced in working independently, with a strong ability to use resources without supervision.
• Strong organizational skills.
• The ability to follow instruction, utilize shop and assembly manuals and be able to work with minimal supervision.
• Possess a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence.
• The ability and attitude to ensure compliance to all workplace health and safety policies.
• Effective interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy with a variety of individuals and groups.
