Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Registration and Client Services Manager, the Front Desk/Registration Clerk is responsible for greeting patients, clients, and visitors upon entering the health center. Successful candidates will have deep knowledge of the health center’s programs, services, and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. He/she will manage the patient check-in process, as well as create, activate, and update patient information in BACHC EMR, offer programs where patient qualifies, such as sliding fee and provide support to the other team members when needed. The Front Desk/Registration Clerk effectively answers patient inquiries and address their issues / concerns, while maintaining customer satisfaction and adhering to BACHC core values.

- Complies with organizational policies and procedures.
- The Front Desk/Registration/Client Services clerk must be proficient in all areas of the Front Office, including but not limited to, the operation of EMR, compliance requirement (including generating patient charts and call backs), scanning, insurance verification, and other duties as assigned by the Clinic Services Manager.
- Check-in Established and New patients. Collect insurance cards, identification, and co-payments, as well as enroll clients to programs where clients qualify, with the permission of the client.
- Collect and update established patients’ basic contact information and changes in insurance.
- Provide patient with a visit summary of all the services performed and set up a follow up appointment.
- Coordinate with Clinical support staff on patient paper works or documentation requiring providers signature.
- Advocate for the patient by following up with clinical support staff if the patient has been in the lobby and not seen by the provider for a considerable amount of time.
- Aid clients to enroll in the organization’s patient portal “My Chart” and explain the benefits of enrollment.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and other company personnel. May assist other staff members with their duties as workload dictates.
- Always positively affects the patients and visitor’s perception of the visit experience.
- Collects and processes patient payments.
- Effectively communicates with the IT Department for any repairs or changes in equipment or needs.
- Takes ownership for daily processes, systems, and standards within the center for timely and accurate completion of tasks..
- Checks BACHC e-mail and answers any correspondence in a timely manner.
- Maintains regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health and safety procedures.
- Ensure that no confidential document with patient information is left out in their work area.
- Performs job duties collaboratively and maintains proactive communication with care team when necessary and exercises good judgement.

Physical Demands
This is mostly a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a Full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.
Travel
On occasion travel will be required.
Education and Experience
- High school graduate, GED, or equivalent required
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Previous Customer Service experience
- Previous experience in a FQHC setting preferred
