Freelance Assistant Technical Designer

We are looking for a Freelance Assistant Technical Designer for a top fashion company in New York, New York!

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with Design to create fit and detail spec measurements based on sketches while maintaining brand and product specific consistency
• Develop and maintain block fits, grades, tolerances, and construction standards to maintain consistency 
• Manage and take ownership of technical aspects of paperwork from development through production
• Request and track fit and design samples to ensure approvals are provided within a timely manner and samples are available for market appointments
• Schedule, measure, prepare, analyze, document and conduct fittings with Design and Merchandising on physical dress forms and in 3D design
• Write and communicate fit comments to overseas teams in addition to daily communication
• Work with Design and Merchandising to follow the development and production calendars to ensure all tasks are completed within the allotted time to meet production deadlines
• Advise Design and Merchandising of alternate garment construction to improve production efficiency

Qualifications:

• Must be a team player and have a strong independent work ethic
• Ability to multi-task and adapt to shifting priorities
• Ability to problem solve daily challenges
• Detail oriented and superior organizational skills
• Excellent communicational skills
• Understanding of garment construction and 2D pattern making
• Proficient in Illustrator, Excel, Word and PLM
• 2D electronic pattern making and 3D software experience and knowledge is a plus
