The Cinema team in Dolby is responsible for designing Dolby's professional products for Cinema Exhibition and Post Production. As a Cinema intern, you will work with new cutting-edge display and audio systems used in Cinema and Post-production. Bring your creativity and passion to help build the future of the cinematic entertainment experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As an FPGA intern you will be working with Dolby's Cinema playback server product line, developing and validating image processing IP sub-components in the video and audio pipelines, whilst targeting the latest families of FPGA devices.
You will be involved in a digital design life cycle involving -
- Conceptualization (block diagram, etc.)
- Micro-architecture design
- Design RTL coding (VHDL, System Verilog)
- Test bench creation
- Running functional simulations
- Implementation of the design on a target FPGA device, including writing timing constraints and ensuring timing closure
- Programming the target FPGA device
- Validating your design on the hardware
Dolby's Cinema products are of the highest quality. As such, an important aspect of your work will be to ensure that your designs are both fully functional and robust. Design documentation, good coding guidelines, self-checking functional simulation, automation, code coverage are a few examples of the methods that we use to ensure that quality. You will be required to contribute to maintain these high standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiarity with RTL design principles
- Familiarity with RTL language (VHDL / Verilog / System Verilog)
- Some experience with RTL Simulators (Questa/Modelsim preferably)
- Some experience with scripting languages (shell, Python)
- Experience with System Verilog for verification is a major plus
- Exposure to FPGA design projects is a plus
- Basic knowledge of image processing is a plus
- Some experience with Matlab is a plus

ELIGIBILITY
Working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, EE or Engineering; recent grads who are within 6 months of graduation are also eligible to apply. Must be available to work full-time Monday - Friday for 3 months between May/June 2024 - December 2024.

The San Francisco/Bay Area base hourly range for this internship position is $35-40/hr and can vary if outside of this location. Our hourly ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific hourly range and perks and benefits for your location during the hiring process.
