Group/Division
With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA’s metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. The RAPID division is the world leading provider of reticle inspection solutions for the semiconductor industry. The company provides inspection solutions to both the mask shops and the semiconductor fabs to ensure that lithography yields are consistently high thus enabling cost-effective manufacturing.
Job Description/Preferred Qualifications
Responsibilities
KLA is seeking a talented and motivated engineer to fill a new position within the Electrical Engineering group. Our designs employ a cutting-edge combination of low noise analog/mixed signal and highly complex digital circuits, which enables our leading technology in the advancing semiconductor industry.
The candidate will be responsible for architecting and implementing FPGA/digital designs for a state-of-the-art Multi-Axis Controller used in stage and source sub-systems.
Main job responsibilities would include:
Define FPGA design requirement specifications and develop projects from concept design to production release. Work on FPGA architecture, RTL design, test benches for behavioral and timing simulations, timing analysis/closure. Design, implement, and debug FPGA designs for embedded sensing and communication systems (cameras, sensors, motors etc.). Work on FPGA functional verification and test strategy.
Collaborate with hardware and embedded software engineers to design FPGA firmware for high-performance mixed-signal systems. Understand and capture the project specifications and performance requirements for board and system level designs. Adhere to project timelines and deliverables. Write technical documentation that meets the defined quality standards.

This role will require collaboration with other engineering groups such as mechanical, optical, software, systems, and manufacturing to ensure flawless integration and testing at the subsystem and system level.
Required Experience:
  • Hands on experience with FPGA firmware design.
  • Experience with Xilinx (preferred) or Intel/Altera FPGAs.
  • Proficiency in FPGA simulation tools such as VCS, Modelsim or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in FPGA design tools such as Vivado or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Hardware description language such as Verilog or System Verilog.
  • Understand FPGA timing analysis and be able to solve timing related issues.
  • Hands on experience with lab equipment such as logic analyzer, oscilloscope.
  • Solid knowledge of various protocols to interface different peripherals: PCIe, Aurora, DDR4, 10G, SPI, I2C, etc.
  • Solid Knowledge of networking and OS such as embedded Linux.
  • The candidate must be motivated, self-driven, independent and possess excellent oral and written communication skills to successfully collaborate with our accomplished engineering team.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate (Academic) Degree and 0 years related work experience; Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 2 years; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 3 years
