Forklift Operator

IMMEDIATE NEED

Markman Peat Corp. is a manufacturer and wholesale distributor of soils, premium soils, decorative rock and mulch to the Lawn and Garden Industry. We are looking for a Forklift Operator, hours are 6:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday - Thursday with the occasional overtime on Friday (when needed during our busy season). Must be able to work the required hours and have reliable transportation.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Operate powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials and deliveries and move to and from storage areas, machines and loading docks, into trucks or storage facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Operate forklift in accordance with company procedures and safety regulations

· Pick and stage orders to be shipped

· Loading and unloading goods from vehicles

· Moving goods packed on pallets or in crates around the storage facility

· Stacking goods in the correct storage areas, following inventory control instructions

· Checking loads are secure

· Stacking empty pallets and relocation of pallets

· Pack and move other items other than goods as instructed by supervisors

· Carryout simple maintenance and daily equipment checks such as oiling and refueling

· Examining products to verify conformance to quality standards, including damages and reporting shortages

· Maintain a clean & safe environment

· Identify and report damage or safety concerns to managers and supervisors

· Other duties as may be assigned

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

· High School diploma or equivalent

· Must be 18 years of age or older

· Proven experience as a Forklift Operator

· High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others; understand and promote a safe work environment

· Follow instructions for operating equipment and keeping records

· Execute assignments in an accurate, timely and safe manner

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND REQUIREMENTS

· Regularly sitting on a powered industrial truck

· Able to work 4 – 10-hour days with occasional overtime.

· Ability to be flexible in work performed and scheduled.

· Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and be able to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot and stand for short periods of time.

· Having good eye-hand-foot coordination

· Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending upon season

· To read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instruction.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 per hour
