Job Description
Barnstable County Department of Health and Environment is accepting applications for a full-time, grant funded position of Regional Training Hub Instructor in the area of Food and Food Protection. The Regional Instructor will coordinate with locations associated with the Barnstable Regional Training Hub and State Level Trainers in providing up-to-date, hands-on training related to Food, and Food Safety. Must have working knowledge of 105 CMR 590.00 and related codes. This position will work closely with local public health officials across the Training Hub service area and will work in partnership with the DPH Office of Local and regional Health (OLRH). Bachelor’s degree in biology, Environmental Science, Public or Environmental Health, 3-5 years of experience or equivalent training in Food Safety inspections or commercial Food Safety programs; experience in developing educational programs and teaching to appropriate audience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience Required. Registration as a MA Sanitarian or NEHA Registered Environmental Health Specialist or Registered Sanitarian (REHS/RS) preferred, or must obtain within 18 months of hire. Food Protection Manager certification, Food Allergen certification, and Massachusetts Class D motor vehicle operator’s license required.
Travel within the Cape Cod, Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, Plymouth, and Halifax regions is required. Must provide own reliable transportation for travel to and from training sites, mileage to be reimbursed.
