Our ideal Quality and Food Safety Manager candidate is someone who will be responsible and accountable for maintaining quality management systems for all Food Safety and certification programs and executing them based on regulatory standards and customer specifications. They will provide day-to-day support to the operations team for the measurement and management of product quality. They will work to ensure Food Safety across the organization. The Quality and Food Safety Manager will travel and oversee the company's sites and provide data and troubleshooting support to the operations team.

The ideal candidate should possess an in-depth knowledge of Quality Assurance food preparation and restaurant management. They should have excellent communication skills and be efficient when working with other departments within the facility. Working well under pressure with many competing demands will be required for success in this position.

You will be responsible for developing a robust continuity plan of all critical business functions during extenuating circumstances and actively participating in the execution of projects. This role will be required to manage all activities relating to Health, Quality, Food Safety, general safety, and associated compliance while providing cross-functional coordination and oversight of day-to-day protocol across all site locations and communicating and collaborating with the units/venue leaders.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Actively manage and enforce Health, General Safety, Food Safety, and related compliance with Human Resources and Facilities Operations leadership.
  • Lead all efforts relating to compliance at the operating business units.
  • Create all OSHA and safety manuals for the restaurants.
  • Develop and implement employee training programs for new and existing employees.
  • Oversee day-to-day protocol for employee/patron safety across all restaurants, including Quality and OSHA compliance, site-specific layouts, and PPE; conduct job-site analyses/inspections to identify and eliminate hazardous work practices.
  • Represent company for audits for FDA, SQF, or other Food Safety related matters.
  • Define procedures for crisis events and associated business continuity plans.
  • Serve as health and safety subject matter expert, driving cross-functional collaboration to ensure best-in-class safety protocol and compliance.
  • Develop training SOPs and manage implementation of technology to support scalability and tracking of programs.
  • Manage inspections, corrective measures, and implementation.
  • Manage guest incidents correspondence, organize all permitting needs, and attend all hearings on behalf of the Yarzin-Sella.
  • Establish risk mitigation goals and develop metrics, dashboards, and/or scorecards to track/communicate/drive progress.
  • Compile and present reports on safety metrics to senior management on a monthly/quarterly basis.
  • Ensure that company policies and procedures, safety, and other laws, regulations, and requirements are implemented and followed.
  • Operate ethically to protect the image of the company.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Ability to simultaneously manage expectations, processes, and multiple projects.
  • At least five years experience in Food/Beverage in Food Safety/QA or Health and Safety Management, Restaurant Operations, and food-specific oversight and compliance.
  • Proven track record of successfully navigating and passing Department of Health (DOH) inspections, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, Food Safety, and sanitation are met.
  • Solid understanding of crisis management/ disaster recovery concepts
  • Passion for tackling ambiguity and providing structure to new opportunities while leading and motivating a cross-functional team.
  • Strong oral and written communication- the ability to speak and communicate in Spanish is a plus!
  • Experience with Third-Party Food Audits is a plus.
  • Ability to represent the company professionally at all times to ensure company policies and procedures as well as compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Possesses solid interpersonal collaboration skills with a demonstrated high emotional intelligence to manage and lead a diverse team; must support and promote a culture of inclusiveness, respect, and a positive employee experience.
  • Must be passionate, entrepreneurial, and dedicated to success.
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds, comfortability standing/walking for hours at a time.
