A Food Runner, also known as a Server Assistant, assists wait staff in delivering beverages and meal items to assigned tables. They are responsible for talking with waiters to assess their needs, transporting food from the expediting counter to the appropriate table, and assisting with cleanup responsibilities when service is completed.

Job Description

• Deliver food orders to customers quickly and accurately
• Maintain sanitary and food-safety standards
• Tables should be cleaned by removing soiled dishes and garbage
• Check in with customers to make sure they're having a good time
• Customer satisfaction reports should be forwarded to management and other relevant parties
• Assist with setting up tables with suitable utensils, napkins, and decorations before service to ensure guests have all of the necessary tableware to fully enjoy their food
• Handle a variety of unplanned consumer requests

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; culinary degree preferred
• 1-3 years of experience in a restaurant, hotel, or resort setting
• Ability to perform tasks with accuracy, speed, and attention to detail
• Ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment
