Job description

The Salvation Army Mission Statement:

  1. BASIC PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to oversee all aspects of Food Pantry operations, including pick up and deliveries, inventory, food rotation, ensure all Food Pantry safety standards, oversee all Food Pantry volunteers and pre-programmers, completion of all required Food Pantry paperwork, and processing of clients receiving food assistance.

 

  1. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  2. Oversee all Food Pantry operations including food pick-ups, deliveries, food box preparation and distribution, and Shelter food support.
  3. Process all daily receivables to ensure proper handling, weighing, recording rotation of all food donations.
  4. Ensure that all palleted food is properly labeled per USDA guidelines and stored for their respective programs.
  5. Oversee volunteers, and pre-programmers working in the Food Pantry, including ensuring daily lunches.
  6. Ability to drive box truck for food pick ups and deliveries as needed.
  7. Ability to operate forklift.
  8. Client data entry into WellSky and USDA required paperwork during all food distribution days/times as needed.
  9. Assist special event as needed, including Post Office & Grape Festival canned food drives and Toy Shopping Spree.
  10. Prepare order for materials relevant to kitchen, Food Pantry, and upkeep needs.
  11. Work closely with officers and staff as needed relating to needs associated with the Food Pantry.
  12. Follow and implement all safety rules to ensure a safe working area.
  13. Daily secure all outside doors, windows, dumpsters, and turn off all lights in walk in fridge & freezer before leaving.
  14. Oversee the upkeep, appearance, and cleanliness of the Lodi Corps facility and vehicles.
  15. Responsible for all paperwork relating to Food Pantry and food distribution including all “gift in kind” donations and stats.
  16. All other duties as assigned.

 

  1. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
  2. Must be able to give written and verbal instructions in English.
  3. Ability to use computer for daily & weekly reporting of donations received as well as being able to communicate through emails.
  4. Have forklift driving experience (certification preferred)
  5. Have at least one year of Food Pantry experience.
  6. Have a sense of cleanliness, tidiness, and neatness.
  7. Have good supervision skills and be able to work closely and cooperatively with other staff members and volunteers.
  8. Have ability to work with and serve a wide range of clients, volunteers, and beneficiaries.
  9. Have positive public relation skills.
  10. Must possess a high degree of initiative, ability to work with little oversight, and an effective team member.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  1. Must be 21 years or older.
  2. Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle.
  3. Must pass The Salvation Army background check.
  4. Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.

 

  1. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  2. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  3. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, clothing carts, merchandise carts, rolling clothing racks, fixtures, furniture dollies, platform trucks and carts, hand trucks and miscellaneous carts.
  4. Requires exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  5. Ability to operate a wireless phone or radio.
  6. Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  7. Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks.
  8. Ability to work in various weather conditions.
