Float Mohs Medical Assistant / Ma

Daily Responsibilities of a Float MOHS Medical Assistant / MA:

• Provide care according to physician’s instruction
• Perform initial assessment and evaluation of patient and patient health survey data. Provide pre-operative and post-operative teaching for both patient and family members.
• Provide assistance during surgery or other procedures as indicated.
• Set up patient for surgery including prepping area, draping with sterile drapes, setting up clean tray with anesthesia and preparing instruments.
• Scrub in as assistant to surgeon. Hand instruments and cut suture, keep operative area clean and organized. Administer anesthesia as directed by physician.
• Prepare equipment and paperwork for surgery
• Maintain appropriate records and documentation.
• Prepare a permanent EMR note for each Mohs case with follow up phone call documented in Electronic Medical Record.
• Clean and dress surgical defects according to procedure guidelines as ordered.
• Provide appropriate written instructions regarding care and potential problems.
• Operate autoclave.

Requirements for a Float MOHS Medical Assistant / MA:

• At least 1 year of experience of MOHS experience – willing to take new grads or those on a “gap year” that will be returning to nursing school or med school within one year.
• 2 years of dermatology specific experience or those who have wound care or surgical tech experience
• Experience with vitals, rooming patients, triaging for patient medical history, chart prep
• EMR experience
• Sterile Procedure/Infection control
• Well-spoken/well written with a good personality

Hours for this Position:

• Monday and Tuesday in Newburyport, MA and Wed and Thursday in Beverly, NH. 7AM -3:30PM/4PM
