Position Summary
Continued employment is contingent upon funding.
This position is not tenure eligible.
This position is primarily focused and responsible for executing the FlexFactor program in local middle and high schools. The program is designed to bring more awareness of career opportunities and the educational pathways to Advanced Manufacturing careers using a student-led learning approach. FlexFactor challenges students to identify real-world problems, conceptualize a high tech solution, and build a business model around it. At the end of the program, students pitch their ideas "Shark Tank" style.
Salary: Appropriate salary placement on ACCS Salary Schedule H25, grade 11: $21,043 - $26,442
Work Hours: 25 hours per week between the hours of 7:45 a.m. - 5:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:45 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. on Friday

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Schedule 15+ FlexFactor classes in area schools each year and arrange classroom visits for each class participating.
  2. Plan and coordinate with internal colleagues Calhoun campus tours and career exploration for each class.
  3. Build and coordinate with external colleagues to secure industry engagement for off-site Industry Day experiences and FlexFactor Final Pitch Panelists.
  4. Maintain administrative files including: FlexFactor paperwork, and participant applications.
  5. Coordinate with ACCS FlexFactor program manager and other FlexFactor colleges in Alabama as necessary.
  6. Deliver in-class room FlexFactor program content and presentations.
  7. Plan and coordinate with internal and external colleagues all FlexFactor Final Pitches "Shark Tank" style for each iteration.
  8. Assist with the development of social media content, news articles, annual reports, etc.
  9. Provide FlexFactor participant teams with assistance and feedback around their product, business model, and presentations.
  10. Help participants to understand career pathways and college credit opportunities available to them.
  11. Lead meetings with teachers and administrators to develop iteration schedules and develop new partners.
  12. Help participants plan for career transition and connect them with college resources to engage participants in mentoring, internships, and employment readiness skills.
  13. Share knowledge of Calhoun programs and offerings in various environments with the goal of recruiting students to careers in North Alabama and educational pathways provided by Calhoun Community College to these careers.
  14. Collaboratively develop effective presentations and activities to convey what Calhoun can offer and the benefits of attending.
  15. Review the Calhoun Catalog annually to become familiar with changes affecting prospective and current student enrollments.
  16. Maintain knowledge of financial aid opportunities for prospective and current students.
  17. Maintain a general knowledge of other college policies and procedures including academic support, and student activities.
  18. Develop and maintain partnerships with high school administrators, business and industry contacts, and community agencies and organizations.
  19. Engage in training and continuously monitor enrollment processes at the College.
  20. Seek out, participate, and present at professional development related to the position.
  21. Maintain a positive attitude that contributes to a professional, team-centered environment.
  22. Use technology effectively for word processing, record-keeping, instructional applications, electronic communication, information and data management.
  23. Comply with policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and the College.
  24. Travel to service area schools and training sessions.
  25. Perform all duties with professionalism.
  26. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  1. A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, education, or related field from an accredited institution is required.
  2. Experience conducting presentations, training, workshops, etc is required.
  3. Experience in event planning or higher education is required.
  4. Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to be insurable is required.

Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate through their experiences and accomplishments:

  11. Ability to utilize and search the internet for information.
  12. Experience in the use of current educational technologies in the classroom including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software (e.g. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
  13. Ability to multi-task and prioritize issues.
  14. Ability to maintain confidential information.
  15. Ability to work and communicate with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds.
  16. Ability to utilize email systems to communicate information.
  17. Ability to work with minimal supervision/ work independently.

Sick Leave
All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is the equivalent of 8 hours of sick leave per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control.
