Under direction, is responsible for supervising fleet mechanics and other personnel in the repair and/or overhaul of the District's motor fleet, custodial, and landscaping equipment and other machinery; performs related duties as required.
Examples of Work
- Assists in supervising and coordinating the activities of the fleet maintenance and service center;
- Operates a computer for proper service center operation;
- Implements the fleet preventive maintenance program at an assigned service center;
- Assigns service center maintenance personnel to specific jobs and inspects quality of work in progress and upon completion;
- Coordinates vacation schedules of subordinates;
- Supervises preparation of school buses for annual and spot inspections by the Ohio State Highway Patrol;
- Initiates disciplinary actions as needed to maintain efficient operation of work force;
- Trains service center personnel in the proper use of various tools, equipment, testing devices, and methods of troubleshooting and repair;
- Operates service truck, school buses, or various other board-owned vehicles and equipment to accommodate maintenance and repair objectives;
- Maintains records and prepares reports for the efficient operation of fleet maintenance and repair;
- May secure or open a service center and grounds at the beginning or ending of a work shift;
- Monitors service center expenditures to maintain fiscal integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Four (4) years of experience performing vehicle maintenance or repairs.
- Substitution(s): Possession of an associate's degree in automotive maintenance technology may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience.
