2024 Camp Season
Work up to 40 hours per week from June 3-July 26
**With the possibility to work Extended Camp Weeks through August 9**
Typical working hours during camp season are Mon-Fri, 8:30am-4:30pm, but may vary
Mandatory Assistant Supervisor Trainings: April 21 & 28, May 5 & 19 (PAID!)
Mandatory All Staff Trainings: May 28-June 1 (PAID!)

Examples of duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Working with Campers
  1. Actively assist in developing, managing, and maintaining the day-to-day operations of camp
    • Help Camp Supervisor in coordinating camp schedules, supervising staff, and assisting with administrative work
    • Evaluate abilities of campers and staff and plan accordingly
    • Design, write, and deliver age-appropriateAll Camp activities, Camp Prom, potlucks, etc. that meet camp outcomes and the abilities of the campers
    • Anticipate and minimize potential problems with staff, campers or the environment and respond effectively to problems that occur. Apply camp policies and procedures in responding and/or disciplining staff and campers
    • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, effectively communicate with children and adults and manage large and small groups
    • Assist in developing and implementing Counselor-led activities
    • Evaluate the success of program area
  2. Maintain the safety and well-being of counselors and campers by following camp policies and procedures
    • Assist in the implementation of staff training and train other staff in their responsibilities while at your program area
    • Manage camper experience
    • Maintain camper discipline, in an appropriate manner, to achieve camp objectives
    • Ensure campers and staff follow safety procedures
  3. Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in program area
    • Ensure the security of equipment and supplies, including clear inventory and planning for replacement of supplies in a timely manner
    • Conduct a daily check of the area and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair
    • Clean program area, keeping it free of hazards and debris
  4. Serve as a positive role model for all campers, staff, and parents in your attitude and behavior
    • Demonstrate appropriate behavior to camp participants, camp parents, and co-workers
    • Strive for inclusion of all camp participants in all scheduled activities
  5. Interact with campers, staff, and parents in a fair and positive manner.
    • Stay alert to campers needs and assist them with personal and/or health problems
    • Work cooperatively with other camp counselors, supervisors, and fulltime city of Dublin staff to create a safe and enjoyable camp experience that keep campers involved and having fun
  6. Develop individual campers' independence, self-esteem, and peer relationships in the summer camp environment.
    • Assist campers in adjusting to the camp environment and to each other
    • Help campers plan their camp program by obtaining their input
Working with Staff
  1. Set the example of Recreation Services' Workplace Mutual Expectations:
    • Demonstrate positive energy, trust co-workers, be solution-oriented, and hold yourself and others accountable
    • Abide by mandatory reporting policies as described in the staff manual
  2. Relationships:Assistant Camp Supervisors work very closely with Counselors and Camp Supervisors, as well as regular interactions with fulltime Recreation Services staff
  3. Lead the implementation of regular swim times, All Camp activities, Camp Prom, potluck, etc.
  4. Participate and assist in the implementation of program activities for campers
    • Actively participate and assist other staff in all program areas as assigned including, but not limited to: field trips, swimming, songs, games
    • Assist other staff in program areas such as Arts & Crafts, Sports & Games, and Outdoor Education
  5. Effectively communicate problems or concerns to Camp Supervisor and/or Camps Program Coordinator
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older by 6/1/2024
  • Three or more years of college course work in recreation, education or related field; OR three or more years of experience in camp logistics
  • Ability and experience to lead and supervise others (campers and camp counselors)
  • Willing to work under direct supervision
  • Ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications
  • College degree in recreation, education, or related field; OR five or more years of full-time teaching experience in a non-academic specified area
  • One or more year of classroom teaching experience
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. for occasional facility/operational/safety needs
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment in performing essential functions of work
Other Requirements
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings
  • Regular, predictable and punctual attendance
  • Ability to develop positive relationships with people from different backgrounds
  • Evaluate camp program and environment and provide input to support staff and supervisors
  • Abide by mandatory reporting policies as described in the staff manual
  • Accept other responsibilities deemed necessary by your supervisor in order to ensure quality service to all campers
  • Perform duties assigned to the best of your ability, and with a positive attitude

Casual employees serve strictly at the pleasure of the City and their employment may be terminated at any time for any reason, with or without cause.
