Broad Function and Purpose of Position:
The primary function of the Director of Warehouse Operations is to manage Sika owned fleet including assets (tractors, trailers), licensing and registrations, maintenance, driver compliance, and all aspects of fleet operations. The Fleet Manager will be responsible for DOT compliance including pre/post trip inspections, driver hours of service, CSA score, and maintaining trailer maintenance records. The Fleet Manager will be responsible for strategic planning and maintaining a good balance of 3PL versus owned fleet drivers and assets.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Manage and enforce driver compliance related to Electronic Log (ELD) ensuring drivers follow all DOT regulations, and new drivers are trained properly.
- Extensive knowledge of DOT regulations with the ability to implement new procedures related to changes in the regulations.
- Maintain maintenance logs of current assets including licensing/registration renewals.
- Training and procedures for all drivers including CDL / non-CDL.
- Ability to work closely with 3rd party service providers (i.e.: Dedicated, Venezia) to maintain excellent service, timely reimbursement of claims, and review of monthly KPI’s.
- Ability to locate regional maintenance service providers for trailer repairs, new tires, etc.
- Negotiate and purchase trailers, pumps, meters with a good understanding of what is needed for each asset.
- Optimize fleet assets, moving them where needed and ensuring all are accounted for.
- Work closely with Supply Chain to manage owned fleet KPI’s and freight costs.
- Perform other work and projects as directed by the Vice President of Logistics.
Qualifications
Qualifications/Experience:
- Education: High School Diploma required, degree preferred.
- Years Experience: 3-5 years experience in a fleet environment. Direct experience with fleet management required.
Special Requirements/Competencies:
- Must have expert experience in electronic fleet management systems.
- Must have knowledge of DOT regulations and guidelines and ability to maintain compliance.
- Ability to use enterprise resource planning and manufacturing resource planning software.
- Independent worker, with strong organizational skills, who requires minimal supervision.
