The Opportunity

The Law Enforcement Base Mechanic is directly responsible to the Services Program Manager for the performance and management of aircraft inspections, repairs, alterations, maintenance, and preventive maintenance.

What You’ll Do (essential functions) Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

• Maintains and repairs aircraft structures and related components including flight controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components.
• Installation and removal of any specialized equipment installed on helicopters in accordance with the standards of the manufacturer, supplemental type certificate(s) and/or field approvals, as appropriate.
• Maintains all special mission equipment installed on the helicopter, and ground support equipment.
• Establishes working relationships with the technical representatives of the various manufacturers of the aircraft, engine, and equipment.
• Uses the electronic maintenance manuals for the airframe and engine. Ensures that electronic maintenance manuals are available to pilots at each base 24 hours a day.
• Performs daily inspection (or after last flight inspection) prior to releasing the aircraft to service and prior to a pilot performing a preflight inspection.
• Applies technical knowledge of A&P systems to determine equipment malfunctions and applies expertise in restoring aircraft to safe, airworthy condition.
• Maintains records in compliance with FAA and company requirements.
• Maintains premises of the shop facility in a clean and organized manner.
• Meets all job/Work Order deadlines, communicating to supervisor/manager when circumstances may prevent on-time completion.
• Updates computerized maintenance tracking systems.
• Assures proper information is communicated: job timelines, shop issues, parts delays, and change orders.
• Additional job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

What You’ll Bring to the Hangar (required qualifications):

• Current, valid U.S. FAA A&P license
• FAA IA Certificate (or obtain IA within specified 6 months)
• Clean, valid driver’s license
• Must be able to work with minimal direct supervision
• Must be able to work with law enforcement.
• Working knowledge of MS Office products including Outlook, Word and Excel
• Pass FAA regulated drug/alcohol tests and background checks prior to start.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the U.S.

What We Prefer You’ll Bring to the Hangar (preferred qualifications):

• Experience with Cessna Caravan 208, turbine engine, Beechcraft King Air, Quest Kodiaks or Pratt & Whitney PT-6 engine experience will be given preference.
• Understanding and experience within a Part 145 repair station.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions. The work environment is often not temperature/humidity controlled. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to bend, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

Monday-Friday day shifts. The exact hours will be determined by location. Must be available for OT as needed evenings/weekends. Must live within a one-hour drive of base to respond to non-scheduled service needs.

Travel

This position may require occasional travel. Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.
