Summary of Work
Applicant will assist the Fisheries Development Project Supervisor in the construction, development and maintenance of statewide boating access and fishing area development. Work will occur throughout the state and overnight travel is required.Tasks include equipment maintenance, planning, scheduling and implementation of maintenance activities at public fishing waters, renovation and construction of new and existing boating and fishing facilities including, but not limited to, boat ramps, courtesy docks, fishing piers, fish cleaning stations, vault toilets, parking areas, signs and work/coordinate with landowners and project sponsors to provide oversight and technical expertise of approved projects. Applicant will also assist in the design and construction of docks, ramps, fish stations and other specialized equipment and will assist in preparing and making public presentations to organizations and wildlife groups.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicant must have a four-year college degree with a major in construction management, construction engineering, or a field closely related to the specialization of the agency and program responsibility area, and one (1) year of work experience in a field that provides the knowledge and skill required to perform the assigned duties.
Must be able to work extended hours and willing to travel extensively during open water season. Must have a valid North Dakota Commercials Driver's License or the ability to obtain one. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, work independently, and have mechanical shop skills. Must be self-motivated and adaptable to a fast-paced work environment. The individual must possess well-developed communication skills, both oral and written, be highly responsible, and be well organized. Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word and Excel).
Requires satisfactory completion of a background check to include a driving record check.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to individuals with:
• Experience in construction, concrete work, and welding and fabricating
• Preparing project estimates, specifications and schedules
• Reviewing design plans and conducting field inspections for construction projects
• Experience with survey equipment, shop and field equipment and maintenance
• Experience in supervising personnel and/or contractors
• Experience with towing and backing trailers
• Experience with skid steer loaders and/or other heavy equipment
• Active participation in hunting and fishing
