The City of Steamboat Springs is pleased to announce job openings in our Fire Department as Firefighter/EMT and Firefighter/Paramedic. This position will operate under the direction of the Shift Captain or Lieutenant and will be expected to perform daily fire department operations to include activities involving fire suppression, emergency medical services, rescue operations, hazardous materials operations, fire prevention & education, safety inspections, equipment and facility maintenance, and other duties as assigned.
These are non-exempt hourly positions. Therange forFirefighter/EMT is $21.67 - $29.97/hour ($64,974 - $89,858/annually) and the range for a Firefighter/Paramedic is $24.81 - $34.31/hour ($74,389 - $102,878/annually). Applications for either position are being accepted based on the current EMS Certification of the applicant and the qualifications below.TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR EMPLOYMENT, CANDIDATES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a high school diploma or G.E.D.
- Possess a CO State Firefighter I Certification or complete required SSFR training and obtain this certification within nine months of hire.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must be of good moral character and of temperate and industrious habits.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or legally eligible to work in the USA.
- Must possess a valid driver's license without record of suspension or revocation or obtain a Colorado State Driver's license within one month of hire date.
- No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history.
- Must be able to read, write and understand the English language.
- Must possess a current 'Healthcare Provider' level CPR card.
- Must possess a Colorado EMT certificate or Colorado Paramedic certificate or the ability to obtain Colorado Certificate prior to hire .
- Must be able to obtain a CO State Firefighter II Certification within 2 years of hire.
