Summary
Responsible for installation, programming, and testing of Fire Alarm systems per project design drawings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Read and interpret Fire Alarm and electrical drawings and specifications.
- Review drawings and verify parts for job are accurate.
- Install and program Fire Alarm control panels and other equipment.
- Mount devices, install conduit (if applicable) and wiring to connect system components per design drawings and applicable building codes and standards.
- Perform all tasks associated with Fire Alarm installation, such as drilling holes for cabling and accessing locations such as crawlspaces or attics to ensure optimal wiring layouts.
- Identify and repair any troubles and test all devices and components to ensure proper operation.
- Perform final acceptance testing with the AHJ.
- Produce reports and other documentation to certify the installation of the system.
Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma or GED; 1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Fire alarm and/or low voltage installation experience is preferred.
Additional Requirements
Pre-employment drug screen and clean MVR.
Computer Skills
Microsoft Office, Word & Excel.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to perform hydraulic calculations and other standard functions.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle, feel and reach with hands and arms, and/or climb a ladder; working with tools off scaffolds, ladders, and aerial lifts at heights potentially in excess of 100 ft; working in confined spaces; and working in adverse weather conditions; frequently required to talk or hear.
